The M12 circular connector is faulty

Because of its high reliability and excellent performance, M12 circular connectors are widely used in industrial automation, sensors, communications and other fields. However, in long-term use or harsh environments, the M12 connector may have some common failures, affecting the stable operation of the device.

一. Common fault types

1. Poor contact

Performance: The electrical performance of the connector is unstable, which can cause signal interruption or poor power transmission.

The reason:

  • The contact pressure between the pin and the jack is insufficient or the surface is oxidized.
  • The terminal is worn due to excessive insertion and removal times.
  • The insertion position is incorrect or the insertion pin is bent.

2. The seal fails

Performance: Moisture or dust enters the connector, resulting in short circuit or corrosion of the device.

The reason:

  • The sealing ring is aged or damaged.
  • Failure of waterproof structure due to improper installation.
  • Prolonged exposure to high humidity or corrosive environments.

3. Mechanical damage

Performance: shell cracking, locking mechanism loosening or breaking, affecting the stability of the connection.

The reason:

  • Excessive external force (e.g. pulling or impact).
  • Insufficient mechanical strength due to material aging or low quality connectors.
  • Improper installation causes thread damage.

4. Signal interference

Performance: Data transmission is unstable or signal quality is reduced.

The reason:

  • The shielding layer is broken or improperly grounded, resulting in electromagnetic interference.
  • Crosstalk problem between adjacent cables.
  • The strong electromagnetic field around the device affects signal transmission.
